Services for J W Lindley, 75, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Alberta Helton, officiating and Scotty Lindley, assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Lindley passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at his home in Memphis, TX. J W was born April 6, 1933 in Plaska, TX to the late Mr. John W. Lindley and Mrs. Willie (Wallace) Lindley. He was a 1952 graduate of Lakeview High School. He married Darlene Hartley on August 30, 1967 in the Church of Christ in Bovina, TX. J W grew up farming on the family farm in Plaska. He raised, fit and showed registered Hereford cattle and has been a horse trainer for 35 years. He was also a lifetime member of American Quarter Horse Association and National Cutting Horse Association. He served as past director of Panhandle Cutting Horse Association. He was also a member of the Arabian Cutting Horse Association where he has won the national title three times. He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Lakeview, TX. He was preceded in death by one son, Jay Preston Lindley on August 8, 1971 and one brother, Dalton Lindley. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Lindley of Memphis, TX; two daughters, Jayne Sweatt and husband Greg of Cochise, AZ; Chlo Brdecko and husband Kenny of Wheeler, TX; one son, Scott Lindley and wife Summer of Madisonville, TX; six grandchildren, Preston Sweatt of Cochise, AZ; Madalyn Brdecko of Wheeler, TX; Katie Sweatt of Cochise, AZ; Morgan Brdecko of Wheeler, TX; Sarah and Riley Lindley both of Madisonville, TX one brother, Thollie Lindley and wife Patti of Lakeview, TX; one sister, Nancy Montgomery and husband Lacy of Memphis, TX.
