Memorial service for Philisha Smith, 37, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday , November 21, 2013 at the First Christian Church with Matt Cook officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Philisha passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. Philisha was born March 6, 1976 in Borger, TX to Mr. Rodney McDowell Sr. and Mrs. Elisa (Sanchez) Prock. She was a 1994 graduate of Texico High School in Texico, NM. She received a business degree from Frank Phillips College in Borger, TX. She married Johnny Smith Jr. on April 5, 2002 in Fritch, TX. They moved to Canadian, TX in 2010 from Fritch, TX. Philisha loved working with the food bank at the First Christian Church, where she also attended. She was preceded by her granddaughter, Evangeline Sanchez. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Smith Jr. of Canadian, TX; two sons, Ethian Sanchez and wife Carissa of Canadian, TX; Quentian Smith of Canadian, TX; two daughters, Devian McDowell of Canadian, TX; Madisian Smith of Canadian, TX; her father and step mother, Rodney McDowell Sr. and Gina of Gruver, TX; her mother, Elisa Prock of Fritch, TX; two brothers, Rodney McDowell Jr. and wife Heather of Kent, WA; Travis McDowell and wife Brittany of Guymon, OK; two sisters, Tonya McDowell Chavez of Fritch, TX; Christie McDowell of Minnesota; her father-in-law, Johnny Smith Jr. of Pampa, TX and her two best friends, Gina Moos of Fritch, TX and Ruth Ann Abraham of Canadian, TX. The family suggests memorials to the food bank, c/o First Christian Church, 402 Purcell, Canadian, TX 79014.
