Services for Mrs. Opal Arlene Clayton, 91, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Travis Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Burton, officiating and Rev. Johnnie Snider, assisting. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Clayton passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in Memphis, TX. Mrs. Clayton was born on August 27, 1916 in Cass County, TX to the late Mr. Archie Templeton Castner and Mrs. Ollie Leona (Wiggins) Castner. She attended schools in Cass County. She married Carl G. Clayton on November 27, 1933 in Linden, TX. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1980. They moved to Lakeview, TX in November of 1944 from Linden, TX. Opal was a homemaker and a member of the Travis Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandson, Ronnie Fulton in 2004. She is survived by one son, Carlton Clayton of Cabot, AR; five daughters, Janice Fulton of Meriden, TX; Sherry Dempsey of Waco, TX; Tamara Naylor of Memphis, TX; Charlotte Kennon and Linda Bartz both of Amarillo, TX; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX 79245.
