L. V. Riggs

Memphis, TX – Funeral services for L. V. Riggs, 87, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the First Assembly of God Church in Memphis with the Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 P.M., Friday, July 19, 2013, at the funeral home. L. V. Riggs was born on July 8, 1926, in Hugo, OK, to the late Lonnie Virgil Riggs, Sr. and Phebie (Parker) Riggs. He passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Memphis, TX. L.V. served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Dilitha Lorine Elrod on October 11, 1947 in Clarksville, TX. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2011. They moved to Memphis in 1966. L.V. retired from the City of Memphis where he worked for the Sanitation Department. He was an ordained minister and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Memphis. L.V. was also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Albert & William Riggs, one sister, Lois Morgan and a granddaughter, Christina McMahan. He is survived by his daughters, Eloise Cozbey of Memphis, Patsy Matheson & husband Gene of Childress, Rita Hamner & husband Terry of Memphis, Kathy Johnson & husband Tommy of Bossier, LA and Phebie Frazier & husband Dwayne of Charlestown, IN, his sons, Lonnie Riggs & wife Sue of Memphis, Paul Riggs of Memphis and Tim Riggs & wife Lori of Memphis, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Elliott of Dallas.
