Don Ferrel

Memphis, TX – Funeral services for Don Ferrel, 73, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Memphis with the Rev. Robert G. Blum officiating and the Rev. Gerald Powley assisting. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Don Ferrel was born on December 14, 1939, in Parnell, TX, to the late Crump M. and Nelda (Hood) Ferrel. He passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Amarillo, TX. Don went to school in Parnell and graduated from Estelline High School in 1958. He attended West Texas A&M and graduated in 1962. He married Bettye Orcutt on June 13, 1959 in Estelline, TX. Don grew up and lived in Hall County and he and Bettye have lived in Memphis since 1968. Don was a farmer and rancher in Hall County and was an elevator owner for 25 years. He was on the Memphis Country Club Board, the Memphis School Board, the Memphis State Bank Board, the Appraisal Board, the Memphis Farmer’s Gin Board and the Hall County Hospital Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. He loved watching his grandkids playing various sports. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Ferrel of Memphis, TX, his daughter, Donna Fox of Houma, LA, his son, Mike Ferrel & wife Kristy of Parnell, TX, his grandsons, Ethan & Keenan Ferrel, his brother, Billy Ferrel & wife Francene of Parnell, TX, his sister, Cleta Bradley & husband Dale of Lubbock, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79106, Medical Center League House, 7000 W. Amarillo Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106 or to a favorite charity.
