Evelyn L. Baughman

Services for Mrs. Evelyn L. Baughman, 88, of Canadian, Texas, will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the Church of Christ with Dr. Dean English, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Baughman passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 in Canyon, Texas. Evelyn was born June 10, 1919 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Joseph William Evans and Mrs. Leola (Hart) Evans. She married John Herman Baughman on May 15, 1940 in Canadian, TX. She worked many years at the Moody Hotel prior to retiring from the Canadian Laundry and Dry Cleaners after 33 years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting colorful afghans which she’s shared with many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband John Baughman and all six of her siblings. Her brother Jay disappeared around July 10, 1940 while in California. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Chumbley and husband Bill of Canyon, TX; two grandchildren, Gary Chumbley and wife Sheila of Spokane, WA; Leslie Appling and husband Roy of Panhandle, TX; five great-grandchildren, Brittney, Chandler and Garrett Chumbley and Sarah and Jaylee Appling. The family suggests memorials to the Canyon Health Care Activity Fund, 15 Hospital Drive, Canyon, TX 79015.
