Memphis, TX – Funeral services for Jane “Ruth” Jones, 85, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating and Danny Reeves assisting. Burial will follow in the Chapel at Fairview under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:30-8:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Hughs Funeral Home. Ruth Jones was born on October 2, 1927, in Memphis, TX, to Ottie Franklin and Gussie Cornelius (Ayers) Jones. She passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Memphis, TX. Ruth graduated from Memphis High School and attended the Texas Women’s College in Denton for one year. She married Billy R. Jones on December 25, 1950, in Memphis, TX. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church for over 80 years. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and helped with Meals On Wheels. She loved baking and canning. Ruth was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and also known as “Muggers” by some of the grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, L.F & Hubert Jones and a sister, Mary Johnson. She is survived by her husband Billy R. Jones of Memphis, her children, Ottie Ray Jones & wife Cathy of Amarillo, TX, Melissa Steele & husband Mike of El Paso, TX and Rodney Jones & wife Lisa of Edmond, OK, eight grandchildren, Jami Jones & wife Shonda, Jenifer Wormsbaker & husband Shannon, Charissa Reeves & husband Danny, Corey Liner & wife Brandi, Justin Steele, Keenan Jones, Cody Butler & Kayleigh Jones, 14 great grandchildren, one nephew and four nieces. The family suggests memorials be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church in Memphis.
