Jacquita Turner, 91, of Lipscomb, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Twin Oaks in Booker. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Jacquita Turner was born in Lipscomb, TX, on April 30, 1920. She completed the family of Glen and Rose Merydith Turner and brother, Deam when she was born. Jacquita attended school in Lipscomb and graduated from Higgins High School. During WWII she lived in California and assembled P-38’s, a single-seat fighter aircraft. Later she joined Dan & Bennie Turner in Truth or Consequence, NM, where she worked in their grocery store and had her own hobby shop. Lipscomb was always a special place for Jacquita. She had a café, filling station, and grocery store down town for several years and later built the 7K Café & gas station on Hwy. 305. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Deam. She is survived by 3 nieces, Judy Turner, Marsha Brehmer and Valerie Turner, a nephew, Merydith Turner, and numerous cousins and friends, including a special cousin, Lance Bussard and his wife Tanja and son Ben. Denny King was a special friend to her. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
