Memphis, TX – Memorial services for Leon Parks, 89, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Memphis with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial will follow at Dodson Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mr. Parks was born on February 13, 1924, in Chalk, TX, to Floyd L. and Kate Ann (Galloway) Parks. He passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013, in Amarillo, TX. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He married Margaret Wynn Gilbert on September 9, 1987, in Roaring Springs, TX. He was an active member of the Masons. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Memphis. Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, M.B. Parks. Leon is survived by his wife, Margaret Parks of Memphis, TX, his children, Vic Parks & wife Wanda of Burbank, WA, Melissa Patrick & husband Chris of Dallas, TX, Paulette Evans of Keller, TX, Billy Gilbert & wife Patty of Wellington, TX, Becky Jackson & husband Jimmy of Claude, TX, Debbie Wood & husband Carl of Cloudcroft, NM, Mark Gilbert & wife Laurey of Pampa, TX and Meleney Martin & husband Kenny of Groom, TX, his sister, Lenora Wood of Plainview, TX, 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church in Memphis.
