Florence Hill Smith

Memphis, TX: Funeral services for Florence Hill Smith, 93, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 5, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Lambert, officiating, assisted by Dr. O.K. Bowen and Rev. Daniel Downey. Burial will follow in Tell Cemetery under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M, Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the funeral home. Florence Smith passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, in Childress. Florence was born on February 25, 1919, in Tell, TX to William F. & Sue (Hamner) Hill. She married Arland "Bud" Smith on December 3, 1940 in Tell, TX. He preceded her in death in 1970. She graduated from Tell High School. She worked at Perry Brothers and retired from there to a lifelong love of gardening. She received the "Garden of the Month" Honor. Florence was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Rippetoe & husband Ronnie of Clarendon, Nancy Lambert of Memphis, Sandra Rutherford & husband David of Memphis and Brenda Jones & husband Raymond of Amarillo, one sister, Ruby Jones of Childress, one sister-in-law, Catherine Hill of Tell, thirteen grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Frank & Cecil Hill and two sons-in-law, Porter Lambert & Jimmy Widener. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
