Darrell Childress Memphis, TX: Graveside services for Darrell Childress, 80, of Amarillo, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with Richard Kelley, brother-in-law, officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Darrell Childress went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in Amarillo. Darrell was born on December 23, 1931, in Wellington, TX to Eldrue & Myrl Childress. He spent his childhood in Memphis, TX, and graduated from Memphis High School. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He married the love of his life Peggy Kelley on March 26, 1955. They lived in Amarillo where he worked as an appliance salesman. Darrell loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs. Darrell always said he couldn?t wait to shake God?s hand. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family. He was a fun-loving man and saw the humor in everything which he passed down to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack and a grandson, Scott. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Childress, his daughters, Sandra Drezek & husband Casey and Beverly Velasquez & husband Raymond, his sons, Don Childress & wife Sandy and James Childress & wife Stacy, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Southwest for the love and support they gave our dad and mom through this difficult time. A special thanks to Tana, we love you all. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the Hospice of the Southwest.
