Rosary services for Scott Campbell, 49, of Canadian, Texas will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Juan C. Barragan, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mr. Campbell died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 in Canadian, Texas. He was born on October 15, 1955 in Cherry Point, NC to Mrs. Carolyn Maddox Campbell and the late Mr. Robert Mason Campbell. He attended grammar schools in Orange, CA and Fall Brook, CA and was a 1974 graduate of Canadian High School, where he broke the CHS pole vault record his senior year. He then attended one year at Palamar Junior College in Palamar, CA. He moved to Canadian, TX in 1971 from Fall Brook, CA. He married Cathy Lopez on June 19, 1976 in Canadian, TX. Scott is known throughout the Texas Panhandle for his gifted musical talent. He put his talents to use by volunteering for various events in the community and surrounding areas, playing in many bands, with the latter being the Prairie River Musicals. He was an entertainer who loved to see a smiling, hand clapping, toe tapping audience. His audiences ranged from the very young to the elderly at the Edward Abraham Memorial Home. Scott also enjoyed playing his guitar during Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a member. He was a church youth director, and taught religious classes for high school students, and a member of Knights of Columbus. In 1980 began to operate his own lawn business, turning a small business into a tree trimming and spraying service, where he was known for managing the beautiful lawns in and around Canadian. He also volunteered his lawn service skills to the Church and the Community. He was very proud to be a resident of Canadian, always promoting his hometown wherever he went. His hobbies included: golf, camping, watching football, spending time with his family, jamming with his guitar, going to Las Vegas with his buddies, and taking the kids to the park to feed the ducks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Irene Maddox, his father-in-law, Y.C. Lopez and a brother-in- law, David Kirby. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Campbell of Canadian, TX; one son, Joe Campbell of Canadian, TX; one daughter, Christie Spence and husband Jeremy of Canadian, TX; his mother, Carolyn Campbell of Canadian, TX; one brother, Steve Campbell of Elk City, OK; one sister, Lori Tye and husband Tom of Wimberly, TX; two grandchildren, Cade Campbell of Tulsa, OK and Madelyne Spence of Canadian, TX.
