Services for Pauline Rivers, 91, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Sanders, officiating and Barry Hobson, assisting. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Pauline passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 in Amarillo, TX. Pauline was born June 16, 1921 in Waka, TX to the late Mr. Gordon Cook and Mrs. Hattie (Cochran) Cook. She married Horace Rivers on February 28, 1938 in Canadian, TX. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2003. Pauline was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Rebekah Lodge. For many years Pauline baked cakes and cookies for numerous occasions. She was honored as the 1981 Woman of the Year for her volunteer work at the Edward Abraham Memorial Home and River Valley Museum. For seventeen years Pauline and Horace operated the Rivers Glass Shop in Canadian. She is survived by two sons, Warren Rivers and wife Jane of Canadian, TX; Gordon Rivers and wife Patricia of Seagrove, NC; three daughters, Nancy Wallace and husband Norrel of Carterville, IL; Mary Gilbert and husband Ronnie of Amarillo, TX; Rilla Ferguson and husband Ken of Lubbock, TX; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
