Shorty passed away Thursday, August 28, 2012 in Canadian, TX. Shorty was born April 21, 1934 in Temple, OK to the late Mr. Harold Cooper and Mrs. Lois (Weant) Cooper. He attended schools in Spearman, TX. He was a Veteran of the Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict. He married Jimmie Sharp on February 20, 1962 in Perryton, TX. They moved to Canadian from Kuwait in 1979. Shorty worked as an oil field consultant until retiring in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Cooper of Canadian, TX; two sons, Billy Dean Cooper of Poteet, TX; Derek Cooper of Canadian, TX; two daughters, Kayleen Lyons of Spearman, TX; Rhonda Ishmael of Mont Belvieu, TX; two brothers, Bobby Cooper of Durant, OK; R.L. Cooper of Georgetown, TX; one sister, Ada Rex of Canadian, TX; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
