Winnie Hedrick

Graveside services for Mrs. Elbert "Winnie" Hedrick, 101, of Uvalde, TX, will be at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey, TX, with Marlin Felts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Hedrick passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in Del Rio, TX. She was born on March 26, 1904 in Crowder, OK to the late John Thompson Findley and Sophia Marie (Staas) Findley. She grew up in Gasoline, TX and Turkey, TX and graduated from Turkey High School in 1919. She married Elbert P. Hedrick on December 26, 1925 in Turkey, TX. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1982. Mrs. Hedrick moved to Wilcox, AZ in 1956, and to Fredricksburg, TX in 1971. She later moved to Uvalde, TX in 1978. She was a housewife and enjoyed participating in the Bridge Club in Turkey, TX. Mrs. Hedrick was involved in the PTA and other school activities. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Turkey, TX. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Bley of Del Rio, TX; and Joyce Mendenhall of Alamogordo, NM; one son, Frank Hedrick of Estelline, TX; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
