Services for Judy Anne Williams Morehead, 69, of Amarillo, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX with Dr. Lewis Holland, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Judy passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 in Amarillo, TX. Judy was born November 28, 1942 in Plainview, TX to Ruth McKibben Williams and J.M. Williams. Judy was raised on a farm near the Sandhill Community in Floyd County. Her parents farmed and taught for many years in and around Floydada, so it was no surprise that she also chose to teach. In 1963 she completed a BBA from West Texas State University in three years and was teaching in Happy, TX while she was still 20 years old. She married Charles Morehead on August 24, 1963 in Floydada. She taught in Happy, Copperas Cove and Canadian. After her husband completed his military obligation they moved to Canadian and spent the next 26 years were she taught and raised their daughters. Judy loved teaching and playing bridge, but most of all she loved being “Nanna” to her grandchildren. Judy was a member of the St. Stephens Methodist Church in Amarillo. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and J.M. Williams. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Morehead and two children, Melanie Lusk and husband Robert of Canadian, TX and Melinda Young and husband Henry of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Emily, Ethan and Elise Lusk all of Canadian and Logan, Wade and Addie Mae Young all of Tulsa, OK. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lake Tanglewood Community Center. The family suggests that memorials be made to Garrison Institute on Aging, 6630 S.
