Services for Mrs. Jean Srygley, 84, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mrs. Srygley passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 in Memphis, TX. Jean was born on July 3, 1923 in Burkburnett, TX to the late Mr. Commodore Stephens and Mrs. Mamie Cates Stephens. She was a 1941 graduate of Lakeview High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She was a life long resident of Hall County. She married Melvin Srygley on June 7, 1941 at the Methodist Parsonage in Hedley, TX. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2001. In her early years she was a beautician and later became owner of a children’s store in Memphis, TX. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She is survived by one son, Jimmy Srygley and wife Nancy of Amarillo, TX; one daughter, Pat Floyd and husband Dwight of Memphis, TX; one sister, Mamie Lee Roberts of Borger, TX; three grandchildren, Larissa Floyd of Memphis, TX; Jeff Srygley and wife Corina of Amarillo, TX; Slade Floyd and wife Lori of Wellington, TX and four great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends on Monday, September 24, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX 79245.
