Artie Gilbert

Services for Artie Mae Gilbert, 87, of Turkey, TX, will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Fairmont Baptist Church in Quitaque, TX, with Rev. Stuart Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Gray Mule Cemetery near Quitaque, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Gilbert passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005 in Turkey, TX. She was born on September 18, 1917 in Aspermont, TX to the late H.E. Baker and Lilly (Brooks) Baker. She grew up in the Gray Mule area. She married Losey Dewane Gilbert on November 26, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2000. Mrs. Gilbert lived in Flomot, TX for most of her life, and moved to Turkey, TX five years ago. She was a housewife and Mama, and was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, Artie Bearl Gilbert in 1999; one brother, Roy Baker; and one sister, Molly Jo Timmermon. She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Hawkins of Quitaque, TX; Pat House of Turkey, TX; Darlene Brockett of Mesquite, TX; and Susie House of Turkey, TX; one sister, Johnnie Pigg of Flomot, TX; two brothers, A.L. "Hoot" Baker of Flomot, TX and Pat Baker of Waco, TX; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
