Memphis, TX -- Services for Mrs Wanda Neel, 84, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mrs. Neel passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 in Memphis, TX. Wanda Celine Beckham was born on March 30, 1923 in Lake Creek, Delta Co., TX to the late Mr. Wyatt Eldrege Beckham and Mrs. Mollie Ann McLaughlin Beckham. She attended grammar school in Friendship, TX and was a graduate of Memphis High School. Wanda worked for R.E.A., Cotton Classing Office and the Hall County Hospital for 34 years before retiring. She married Elmer Neel on August 7, 1970 in Las Vegas, NV. She was a lifelong resident of Memphis and Hall County, moving to the area with her family in 1928 at the young age of 5 years old. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis and the Red River Red Hatters, as well as many other community groups . She was preceded in death by her only son Mike Webster in 2006, husband Elmer Neel in 2000, 1 brother and 3 sisters. She is survived by granddaughter Tonia Webster Cook and great-grandson Coltyn Cook of Abilene,TX., stepsons Earnie Neel of Memphis, TX., Clarence Neel of West Fork, AK., Chester Neel of Anderson, MO., nieces Kindra Davis , Kim Hinckley, Zella Furrow, Lesley Johnson, Donna Odom, Teresa Morgan, Lori Caldwell.
