Lena Lacy Sweatt

Services for Lena Lacy Sweatt, 89, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Dewayne Wolf officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Sweatt passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2005 in Amarillo, TX. She was born on November 7, 1915 in Quail, TX to the late Mr. Horace Lacy and Mrs. Permelia (Preston) Lacy. She grew up in Quail and graduated from Quail High School in 1932. She married William Thomas "Tom" Sweatt on January 17, 1937 in Wellington, TX. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1999. Mrs. Sweatt lived in Newlin, TX for 13 years, and moved to Memphis, TX, where she lived for 42 years. She worked as a hemmer for Burlington Industries for 15 years, where she always met production, and went above and beyond production requirements. She was a member of the Newlin Mothers Club and was a longtime pianist at First Baptist Church in Newlin, TX. Mrs. Sweatt was a member of First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX. She is survived by three Sons, Thomas Ned Sweatt and wife Patricia of Arlington, Texas; Kenneth Dale Sweatt and wife Barbara of Altus, OK; and Darrel Wayne Sweatt and wife Dianne of Memphis, Texas; seven grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
