Gayle Monzingo

Services for Gayle Monzingo, 72, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 9, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Miller, officiating and Rev. Dale Sexton, assisting. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Monzingo passed away Monday, August 6, 2007 in Amarillo, TX. Gayle was born on December 19, 1934 in Plaska, TX to the late Mr. Frank Edward Monzingo and Mrs. Grace Hickey Monzingo. He was a 1953 graduate of Memphis High School and went on to attend West Texas State University. He married Lois Ann Cofer Monzingo on November 24, 1956 in Memphis, TX. She preceded him in death on September 3, 1996. Gayle was a lifelong resident of Memphis, TX where he was a farmer and rancher for many years until retiring in 1997. He was also a golf coach until retiring in April of 2007. Gayle is survived by two sons, Matt Monzingo and wife Sharon of Blanco, TX; Lynn Monzingo and wife Margaret of Norman, OK; one daughter, Sharla Drerup and husband Brendon of Amarillo, TX; one sister, Carol Cluck of Van Buren, AR; six grandchildren, Ben Monzingo of Memphis, TX; Whitney Monzingo of San Angelo, TX; Major Monzingo and Maty Monzingo both of Norman, OK; Alec Drerup and Aiden Drerup both of Amarillo, TX. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX.
