Rosary services for Rose Marie Bentley, 70, of Canadian, Texas will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Juan C. Barragan, Officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Bentley passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007 in Pampa, Texas. She was born on November 29, 1936 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Othello Miller and Mrs. Elna Anderson Miller. She was a 1955 graduate of Canadian High School. She married Carrol Bentley on April 22, 1956 in Canadian, TX. She was owner and operator of the Hemphill County Free Press since 1997. Rose was very active in the American Cancer Society, WCTU, Panhandle Professional Writers. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and past president of the Altar Society. She was a lifelong resident of Canadian, TX. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bert Edward Miller, one sister, Nadyne Ruth Smith, four brother-in-laws, Bill Purcell, Sterling Scarbrough, Wilbur Smith, Willis Throckmorton, one sister-in-law, Lou Vern Throckmorton. She is survived by her husband, Carrol Bentley of Canadian, TX; two sons, Stephen Bentley and Stan Bentley and wife Alice all of Canadian, TX; one daughter, Stephanie Seale and husband Joel of Vernon, TX; three sisters, Margaret Mahan and husband Billy of Mineral Wells, TX; Mary Helen Scarbrough of Amarillo, TX; Colette Valles and husband Juan of Canadian, TX; four grandchildren, Heather Castro of Wichita Falls, TX; Nathan Seale of Vernon, TX; Megan Bentley and Katelyn Bentley both of Canadian, TX; one great-grandson, Matthew Castro of Wichita Falls, TX. The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, Amarillo Chapter, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
