Service for Irene Russey, 97, of Memphis, TX will be at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mrs. Russey passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 in Memphis, TX. Irene was born June 2, 1914 in Lakeview, TX to the late Mr. J.H. “Herb” Barbee and Mrs. Ethel (Smith) Barbee. She attended schools in Lakeview. She married Preston Russey on June 20, 1953 in Jacksboro, TX. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1981. Irene worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Annis Barbee, Betty Johnson, Ellie Peeples, Becky Cummings, Viola Robertson and Jessie Wiley and two brothers ,J.H. “Junior” Barbee and Kenneth Barbee. She is survived by one brother, Bobby Barbee and wife Dixie of Lakeview, TX; her brother-in-law, Rex Peeples of Amarillo, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the Lakeview Cemetery Association, 13426 County Road D, Lakeview, tX 79239.
