Services for Betty Massey, 84, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First Christian Church with David Massey and Matt Cook, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Betty passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in McAlester, OK. Betty was born August 31, 1927 in Miami, TX to the late Mr. Ralph Earl Hale and Mrs. Ivy C. (Lard) Hale. She received her early education in Miami and was a graduate of Perryton High School. After high school she continued her education and earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. She married Revis D. Massey on January 17, 1953 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2006. Before marriage she began her teaching career in one room school houses in Hemphill and Ochiltree counties and after marriage she resided in Canadian, TX. She also taught second grade in Canadian before and after marriage. Betty was an active member for many years in the First Christian Church and she was also a Sunday school teacher. She was a leader of 4-H and a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution Chapter. She is preceded in death by her brother, Paul S. Hale. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Joe Massey and wife Deborah of North Richland Hills, TX; David Massey and wife Mary Beth of McAlester, OK; one daughter, Revis Ann Massey of Miami, FL; two brothers, Fred and Henry Hale both of Perryton, TX; one sister, Harriet Connors of Perryton, TX; four grandchildren, Josh Massey of Austin, TX; Zach, Jordan and Jon David Massey all of McAlester, OK.
