Services for Dilitha Elrod Riggs, 78, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Assembly of God with Rev. Mike Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mrs. Riggs passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 in Memphis, TX. Dilitha was born December 29, 1932 in Detroit, TX to the late Mr. Benford Elrod and Mrs. Eva (Brundige) Elrod. She attended schools in Detroit, TX. She married L.V. Riggs on October 11, 1947 in Clarksville, TX. She moved to Memphis, TX in 1966 from Cunningham, TX. Dilitha worked as a caregiver at the Memphis Convalescent Home and also worked in the private home care. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband, L.V. Riggs of Memphis, TX; three sons, Lonnie and Paul Riggs both of Memphis, TX; Tim Riggs of Hedley, TX; five daughters, Eloise Cozbey of Memphis, TX; Patsy Matheson of Childress, TX; Rita Hamner of Memphis, TX; Kathy Johnson of Bossier, LA; Phebie Frazier of Charlestown, IN; four brothers, Winfrod Elrod of Detroit, TX; Sam Elrod of Parris, TX; Kenneth Shelton of Detroit, TX; Donnie Shelton of Mexia, TX; three sisters, Vicki Ryan of Parris, TX; Gayle Roberts of Pampa, TX; Tanya Brumbalow of Blossom, TX; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX 79245.
