Services for Allie Mitchell Sr., 84, of Canadian ,TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Church of Christ with Dr. Dean English, officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Allie passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Canadian, TX. Allie was born September 20, 1926 in Bethany, OK to the late Mr. Ernest Mitchell and Mrs. Virginia (Downs) Mitchell. He attended schools in Bethany, OK. He married Dollie Hall on June 20, 1945 in Hollis, OK. They moved to Canadian in 1969 from Enid, OK. Allie worked as a meat cutter for various places such as Enid, OK, Chelsea, OK, Perryton, TX, Sayre, OK and Canadian, TX. Allie worked for the Texas State Highway Department until retiring after 10 years. He then went to work for the Canadian Independent School District as a Bus Foreman until retiring after 10 years. He was also a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Mitchell, three brothers, one sister, and his great-granddaughter, Kami Minick. He is survived by his wife, Dollie Mitchell of Canadian, TX; two sons, Allie “Skip” Mitchell Jr. of Elmore, OK; Rick Lynn Mitchell and wife Billie Rae of Flora Vista, NM; four daughters, Brenda Farquer and husband Richard of Canadian, TX; Glenda Morgan and husband Charles of Mangum, OK; Linda Lou Marsh and husband Chuck of Canadian, TX; Betty Ann Klein and husband Curtis of Canadian, TX; his twin brother, Alvie Mitchell of Glen Rose, TX; 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
