Ruth M. Cantrell

Ruth went to be with her Lord on June 6, 2011 in Memphis, TX. Services for Ruth M. Cantrell, 78, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Travis Baptist Church in Memphis, TX with Rev. Johnnie Snider, officiating. Services will be at 2:30 P.M. Friday, at Calvary Baptist Church in Shamrock, TX with Brother Joe G. Jernigan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Ruth was born March 12, 1933 in Shamrock, TX to the late Mr. Clarence Ackley and Mrs. Dicey (Shultz) Ackley. Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Shamrock High School. She married Lonzell Williams on August 8, 1954 and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1955. She married Austin Cantrell on December 7, 1956 and together they raised their two children. Ruth later attained her Cosmetology license in 1972 after helping her husband on the family farm for many years. She was a hairdresser in the Beauty Bar Salon for several years, later purchasing the business and operating it herself for 25 years while continuing to help Austin on the farm. Ruth was kind, hard working woman who loved her Lord and her family. She was a wonderful help mate to the husband she loved and was seldom away from. She encouraged her children to get good educations and be the best they could be at whatever they chose to do. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her and especially those who loved her. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hammack and Lena Sanderson, a brother, Charles Ackley and a sister-in-law, Wanda Stringer. She is survived by her husband, Austin Cantrell of Memphis, TX; one daughter Dianna Wiginton and husband Larry of Memphis, TX; one son, Jerry Cantrell and wife Linda of Rowlett, TX; four grandchildren, Justin Cantrell and wife Kristen; Deborah McAnear and husband Jimmy; Lee Wiginton and wife Breann; Stephanie Nichols and husband Micah; six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie McAnear; Josalyn McAnear; Austin Lee Cantrell; Jackson Lee Cantrell; Cable McAnear; Lily Nichols; one sister, Bessie Wright of Tyler, TX; a brother-in-law, Leon Sanderson of Shamrock, TX; a sister-in-law, Mary Ackley of Paris, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
