Memphis, TX -- Services for Bill Stone, 76, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Hughs Memorial Chapel in Memphis, TX, with Tom Anderson, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Stone died on Friday, May 25, 2007 in Childress, TX. Bill was born on July 6, 1930 in Giles, TX to the late Mr. Albert B. Stone and Mrs. Lilly Mae Proffitt Stone. He was a graduate of Memphis High School. He married Kathryne Walls on May 13, 1948 in Memphis, TX. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2003. Bill was a mechanic and owned and operated Bill’s Wrecker Service. He was on the volunteer fire department for over 35 years, and a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by two sons, Al Stone and wife Sherrie and Tex Stone and wife Debbie all of Memphis, TX; one brother, Foy Ray Stone of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.. The family suggests memorials be made to Fairview Cemetery, Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245 or the Volunteer Fire Department, 721 Robertson, Memphis, TX 79245.
