Othell Spruill

Services for Mrs. Othell Spruill, 99, of Memphis, TX will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Red Marble Ministries Church with Dale Sexton, officiating and Rev. Dale Miller and Jackie Blum, assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Othell passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in Memphis, TX. Othell was born April 19, 1912 to the late Mr. William Reed and Mrs. Iva (Rea) Reed. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School. She married R.B. Spruill Sr. on January 16, 1937 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1978. She worked for various places in Memphis such as the Sheet Factory, Memphis Steam Laundry and waitressed in local restaurants for many years. Othell could pick a bale of cotton a day. She was a member of the Travis Baptist Church and Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Perkins, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one son, R.B. Spruill Jr., of Corpus Christi, TX; one daughter, Lena Martinez of Memphis, TX; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be made to a favorite charity.
