Canadian, TX: (Special) – Graveside services for Duane Mecham, 58, of Canadian, TX will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Jerry Smith, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Mecham passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 in Canadian, Texas. Duane was born on December 14, 1948 in Canadian, TX. He was a graduate of Canadian High School. Duane was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam for two tours. He locally owned the DD and Highway 83 restaurant’s in Canadian, TX. He was currently working for G & R G trucking of Odessa, TX and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnnie Golleher, his step-grandfather, Roger Batts and and his grandmother, Addie Golleher-Batts. He was also preceded by one uncle Don Golleher. He is survived by one son, Brian Mecham and wife Lisa of Odessa, TX; one daughter, Sheila Resser and husband Chris of Cooksville, TN; his parents, Ralph and Velma Hornberger of Canadian, TX; two sisters, Susie Baxter and husband Shaffer of Canadian, TX; Linda Bennett and husband David of Amarillo, TX; two grandchildren, Brian and Brandon Mecham both of Odessa, TX and many nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th, Canadian, TX 79014.
