A Memorial Service for Marguerite Allard Champion, 93, of Memphis, TX, will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Gary Boles officiating. Mrs. Champion's wishes were to be cremated, and her remains will be buried in a ceremony at Resthaven Memorial Park in Jacksonville, TX at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Champion passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 in Memphis, TX. She was born on September 8, 1913 in Ireland, TX to the late Mr. Charles Dow Allard and Mrs. Maggie (Cherry) Allard. She attended schools in Hamilton, Lamkin and Dawson, where she graduated in 1930. She received a B.A. degree from Mary Hardin Baylor College and a M.A. degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. She taught for twenty-five years in public schools in Jacksonville, TX. She was married to V.D. Champion on May 14, 1937 in Dawson, TX. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1986; three brothers, Wayne, Roland and David; and one sister, Jane. She is survived by two daughters, Anne Chamberlain of Memphis, TX and Judy DuFrain of Savage, Minnesota; one brother, Dr. Charles Allard of Austin, TX; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
