Ernest Walker

Services for Mr. Ernest Walker, 83, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Church of Christ with Carrol Robertson, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mr. Walker passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 in Childress, TX. Ernest was born August 28, 1927 in Evansville, IN to the late Mr. Harvey Walker and Mrs. Ecie (Browning) Walker. He graduated high school from Harding Academy in Searcy, AR. He then went on to receive a degree in teaching from Peabody College of Education in Nashville, TN. He married Sybil Curry on August 30, 1951 in Fisk, MO. Ernest has pastured in various Church of Christ for 54 years. While living in Kittery, ME he was on the volunteer police department. They moved to Memphis, TX in May of 2006 from Centerville, TX. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Memphis, TX. He was preceded in death by three sons, Freddie, Jerry and Harvey Walker. He is survived by his wife, Sybil Walker of Memphis, TX; one brother, John Walker and wife Kathy of Elkton, KY; two grandchildren, Michelle Tewold of Magnolia, TX; Stephanie Ray of Bryan, TX; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Everett and Gladys Williams of Memphis, TX; and numerous other family members.
